Pine needles are the whole story. They fall year-round, they slip past skimmer baskets, and they pack into filter pleats in a way leaves don't. Filters in The Woodlands need cleaning on a shorter cycle than the manufacturer's schedule assumes, and a neglected one starves the pump of flow.

How often should my filter be cleaned in The Woodlands?
More often than the manual says. Pine needles and pollen load a filter faster than ordinary debris. We watch the pressure and clean it when it calls for it rather than on a fixed date.

My pool goes cloudy every spring. Why?
Pollen. It consumes sanitizer and it is fine enough to pass through a loaded filter. The fix is a combination of correct chemistry, a clean filter, and sometimes a clarifier during the worst few weeks.
